"The Horne's arrived in 1366, but in 1380 the French attacked Appledore and burnt down the church and village. Horne's Place lies a mile away and thus escaped, maybe they built this nice little chapel in gratitude?"

"She was the grand daughter of King Ethelbert and founder in 630 of the first nunnery in England at Folkestone. A carpenter building the nunnery cut a length of timber too short. She lengthened it "by prayer", a decent customer."
